BADULLA

Badulla is the capital city of Uva province in Srilanka. It is approximately 231 kilometres away from Colombo, and lies on the eastern slopes of the central highlands. It takes around 6hrs to get to Badulla from Colombo. Badulla is the last stop of the upcountry railway line. Travelling by train is the best way to get immersed in the splendid views of nature and the surrounding landscapes. Part of this city maintains its colonial heritage, the train station itself is one of the best preserved colonial buildings in Badulla. And this area contributes significantly to the local economy through agriculture. Main attractions of the area include the Dunhinda waterfall which at a height of 64 metres is located 5 kilometres north of Badulla town, the Dhowa rock temple, which is 2,000 years old and the ancient Bogoda wooden bridge which over 400 years old is believed to be the oldest wooden bridge in Srilanka.
